The Pantone Color Institute names the main shade of 2022

It reflects the tremendous opportunities, trends in the digital world and the transition we are experiencing.
Pantone Color Institute identified the main shade of 2022: it was the lilac Very Peri with the number 17-3938. It is "a vibrant blue with a life-giving violet-red hue that combines the fidelity and consistency of blue with the energy and excitement of red."
This is the first time in many years that Pantone has created this color on its own, rather than choosing from the ones already in the palette. 17-3938 Very Peri is characterized as a symbol of the global spirit of the times and the transition period that we are experiencing. It illustrates how color trends in the digital world manifest in the physical and vice versa.
As society continues to recognize that color is an important form of communication and a way to express and influence ideas and emotions, engage and communicate, the complexity of this new shade of blue with a reddish-purple flavor underscores the enormous opportunities that lie ahead of us.

As a reminder, last year Pantone chose two colors at once - yellow and gray.
