All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) spent a survey among Russians to find out how much time they spend on social networks and instant messengers. It turned out that 86% of respondents who have an account on at least one social network or messenger visit them almost daily. Among users aged 18-34, the share of daily users is close to absolute: 92-94%.
Regular users of social networks and instant messengers with communication capabilities (VKontakte, WhatsApp, Telegram and the like) spend an average of 272 minutes or 4.5 hours a day on them. For young people aged 18-24, this figure is significantly higher: 493 minutes or more than 8 hours a day (taking into account calls, messaging, reading news and other activities).
Among the 15 analyzed services (their list is not disclosed), the most time is spent on VKontakte: 129 minutes per day. TikTok and Telegram are in second and third places with 125 and 123 minutes, respectively.
As for specific content, most often users subscribe to news communities (77% of respondents have such subscriptions). Educational (41%), humorous (35%), entertainment (33%) and scientific (30%) communities are also popular.
