But the basic models of new Apple smartphones do not have such a function.
Apple may finally bring Always On Display technology to the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. This will allow them to display a limited amount of information on the screen, even when they are blocked. The feature may be introduced as of iOS 16. writes Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.
The insider notes that the iPhone version of always-on mode may work similar to how it works on the Apple Watch Series 5 and above. That is, smartphones will reduce the frame rate of the lock screen to a minimum, which will allow them to save energy in this display mode.
Perhaps Apple will use the same low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) that is used in the displays of new watch models. Such panels have a fairly low power consumption, which plays a huge role in the correct operation of the Always On Display mode.
Gurman also added that the set of data for displaying on a locked display in iOS 16 will be about the same as on many Android smartphones. But there will also be some wallpapers that are compatible with widgets. More details may follow at WWDC on June 6, where they will present a new version of the OS for the iPhone.
