The first smartphone with the Russian OS Rosa Mobile will be released in autumn 2023

Already in the fall of this year, the Russian company STC IT "ROSA" will release the first smartphone running its own mobile operating system, Rosa Mobile.

The name and technical characteristics of the device have not yet been disclosed, but it is already known that it will cost up to 40 thousand rubles. Production is planned to be launched in Zelenograd at the Rutek factory. The capacities of this plant allow to produce hundreds of thousands of gadgets per year.

OS Rosa Mobile is based on Linux. It is similar to Android and iOS at the same time, the developers say. The RosaStore branded application store will be integrated into the system, as well as RuStore. At the first stage, all applications that need only access to the Internet will work on the platform: banking, online stores, public services.

It is noted that Android components were not used when creating Rosa Mobile. This, according to the developers, is a safety net against possible shutdowns and hidden features from Google. However, users will be able to run some Android applications on their smartphone without any problems.

It is expected that the first buyers of the smartphone will be corporate customers and the public sector. Later, the novelty should appear in retail.
