Written and directed by Greta Gerwig told about the classic films that inspired her to create the film "Barbie”, which became one of the main hits of this summer.
So, on the musical content of the picture about Mattel doll The film Saturday Night Fever in 1977 was a big influence. Like a young John Travolta, Barbie tries to escape life's hardships through disco and parties.
The French-Italian comedy Entertainment Time (1967) served as the model for Mattel's headquarters. Gerwig imitated the dull gray booths shown in this film and created a horde of clueless businessmen acting as a hive mind.
Attentive moviegoers can also see common features in the comedy with The Godfather (in one of the episodes with countless Kens and Barbies), and a direct reference to Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey was even in first teaser.
