The sound has become even cooler, and the earbuds themselves are now smaller and lighter.
After months of leaks, the Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds are now official. This is a model of the flagship series, which will compete with the leaders of the segment, including AirPods Pro 2 And Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2.
WF-1000XM5 retained the already recognizable design of compact "plugs", but in comparison with predecessor they have received a glossy outer surface and are 25% smaller and 20% lighter.
Headphones equipped with new 8.4mm Dynamic Driver X drivers, which guarantee a richer and more detailed sound. The WF-1000XM5 also received two noise-canceling processors, HD Noise Cancelling Prover QNe 2 and Integrated Processor V2, which Sony calls the best on the market.
The system for suppressing external sounds is complemented by soft and elastic nozzles made of polyurethane foam. They increase the contact area between the earmold and the ear canal, enhancing soundproofing.
Each earpiece has three microphones. There is support for LDAC, SB3, AAC and LC3 formats. And the DSEE Extreme AI technology improves the quality of compressed digital music files, including those from popular streaming services.
The controls are touch-sensitive, but Sony has also added gesture controls that let you accept or reject calls by simply nodding or shaking your head.
With a case, the WF-1000XM5 can work up to 24 hours, and on one full charge you can count on 8 hours with active noise reduction turned on. A three-minute recharge will be enough for the headphones to work for an hour. A full charge will take 1.5 hours.
Overseas WF-1000XM5 is already available for pre-order at a price of $300 (≈27,000 rubles). They are available in black and silver. Shipments of the Sony WF-1000XM5 are due to begin on July 26th.
