Ubisoft begins deleting inactive Uplay accounts along with all games
Miscellaneous / / July 24, 2023
Ubisoft has begun sending warnings to users about account freezes due to prolonged inactivity. If within 30 days after receiving such a letter, the user does not follow the link in the letter to unblock account, it will be permanently deleted - and with it, all games purchased in the store and received on giveaways. On this noticed Twitter user @PC_enjoyer.
IN terms of use Ubisoft Services does state that an account or access to a service may be terminated by Ubisoft if the account has been inactive for more than 6 months.
Eurogamer leads information that Ubisoft does not select accounts after six months and closes only accounts that have not been used for at least 4 years. There has been no official confirmation of this information yet.
However, in the comments notedthat for a French company, such behavior is not only illogical, but also illegal, since in France a digital purchase is considered final, like any physical one. That is, the company cannot take away the purchased games by law.
Users who have experienced the loss of their account due to circumstances beyond their control (for example, the complete loss access to the associated email), Ubisoft offers to contact support to recover the account records. Whether it is possible to do this if the account has already been deleted, and not frozen for 30 days, is not specified.
