What happens if you swallow a tooth
Once swallowed, the tooth should be treated like any other foreign body. And with them, our body can perfectly cope: it will go through the entire digestive tract in a couple of days and come out with feces. A laxative or other ancillary methods will not be needed.
What to do if a tooth is stuck
Sometimes a tooth can get stuck in the esophagus and interfere with breathing. If you start coughing, then nothing needs to be done: the body is already working to get rid of the tooth and push it back to the exit.
If you're suffocating, you'll have to executeHeimlich maneuver.
Usually you need the help of a neighbor. If you are near a choking person:
- Stand behind him and put one foot back a little for better balance. If a child chokes, kneel behind him.
- Wrap your arms around your waist. Lean the person forward slightly.
- Make a fist with one hand. Put it a little higher navel person.
- Grab your fist with your other hand. Press down on your belly with a quick upward thrust as if trying to lift the person. For a child, use gentle but firm pressure so as not to damage the internal organs.
- Do five pushes. Check to see if the tooth popped out. If not, then repeat again.
If the tooth is yours, and there is no one around, you will have to solve the problem on your own. For this:
- Place the fist of one hand on the stomach between the navel and ribs.
- Cover your fist with your other hand and press it into your stomach with a sharp push.
- Repeat pushing until it becomes easier to breathe.
You can also use the back of a chair or the corner of a table. Stand so that the edge of the support is at the level of the stomach, and sharply press the stomach towards the spine and up.
