Dive into nostalgia with Pac-Man, classic Mortal Kombat and Earthworm Jim on a modern console for a couple of dollars a month.
On Xbox Series S and X became available Antstream Arcade subscription. It gives you access to a collection of over 1300 classic games and 600 competitions. The games in it are full-fledged licenses, and the competitions are modifications of games from a selection with modified conditions that complicate and change the passage.
Antstream Arcade is a cloud-based service, so you will need a constant internet connection to play. Journalist at PureXbox notesthat high speed is not required: its 10-15 Mbps connection, which is not enough for Xbox Cloud Gaming, turned out to be enough for these retro games, lags are minimal.
As for the selection, the collection includes hits from various consoles and computers from the ZX Spectrum to the Game Boy and PlayStation 1. These are Space Invaders, Metal Slug, Fatal Fury 2, Mortal Kombat, Super Star Wars, Eartworm Jim and more. The collection will be updated with new games weekly.
The controls in each game have been remapped to fit the Xbox, and the image adapts to modern TVs. Stretching an image or adding screen filters will not work.
Antstream Arcade subscriptions are priced at $30 or £30 per year depending on the region, or you can buy a lifetime access for $80 or £80. In addition to Xbox, the collection is available on PC via Epic Games Store (release is expected later on Steam), on a Mac via a client with site Antstream Arcade as well on Android.
