Instead of monthly game giveaways, there will be a permanent free library - like in the premium versions of PS Plus.
Microsoft officially announcedthat from September 14, the Xbox Live Gold subscription will turn into Xbox Game Pass Core. Along with the name, the benefits will also change.
Xbox Live Gold now offers in-game multiplayer access, 2 free games per month, and exclusive discounts on select games from the Microsoft Store. Xbox Game Pass Core will take a different route and offer an ongoing, regularly updated selection of hits that subscribers can play for free. Access to online features and special discounts will continue.
The subscription collection will include:
- Among Us;
- Descenders;
- Dishonored 2;
- Doom Eternal;
- Fable Anniversary;
- Fallout 4;
- Fallout 76;
- Forza Horizon 4;
- Gears 5;
- grounded;
- Halo 5: Guardians;
- Halo Wars 2;
- Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
- Human Fall Flat;
- inside;
- Ori & The Will of the Wisps;
- Psychonauts 2;
- State of Decay 2;
- The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited.
In total, there will be more than 25 games at launch from Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda and other partners. Microsoft clarifies that the composition of the library of free games may vary depending on the region. The collection will be replenished 2-3 times a year.
Users will retain access to previously added games from the monthly Xbox Live Gold for Xbox One giveaways. All Xbox 360 games previously added through a subscription will be available to users regardless of whether they have an active subscription.
The new plan will cost $10/month or $60/year, just like Live Gold. All Xbox Live Gold subscribers who prepaid the old plan through September and beyond will automatically upgrade to Xbox Game Pass Core at no additional cost.
