It will connect and configure itself as soon as the plane takes off.
According to a new patent application, filed Google, Android may get a smarter airplane mode in the future, which the device will automatically launch when the plane takes off.
By default, Android disables Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in airplane mode, but you can turn them on and your phone will remember this, applying the same settings the next time you activate airplane mode. The new mode will only turn off cellular communications, while Wi-Fi and Bluetooth will adapt to the situation. For example, the settings of the Wi-Fi module will automatically adjust to the quality of available networks, and Wi-Fi will turn off only after a certain time without the Internet to save battery - when the smartphone "understands" that you are not using the aircraft network, or it at all No.
A new mode is activated, taking into account a number of data:
- Data from sensors (pressure reduction, changes in altitude and acceleration).
- Aircraft sounds (engine and other noises).
- Aircraft beacons (ultrasonic signal).
- Communication module signals (GPS, cellular, Wi-Fi).
- Contextual factors (data on purchased tickets, use of a smartphone for registration).
As soon as the user exits the aircraft, the smartphone will automatically switch to normal operation and turn on cellular communication.
It is not yet known when the updated airplane mode will appear in Android. Considering that we are only talking about a patent so far, it’s definitely not worth waiting for before Android 15.
