Enthusiasts revived "Update Center" for Windows 95, Me and 2000

The plans include a single resource for updating all older versions up to Vista.
Since 2011, Microsoft has closed access to almost all Windows Update servers, so to install updates for older versions of the system have to rely on third-party installers - which offer far from everything ever released updates.
The creators of the Windows Update Restored resource decided to fix the situation. It restores access to most of the updates ever released for older systems. Updates can only be installed manually: automatic updates cannot be enabled.
It is noted that the main goal is to restore all versions of the Update Center sites, which will allow systems, including Windows 95, NT 4.0, 98, Me, 2000 and XP, to quickly receive updates.
The site is based on materials from the "Internet archive" Wayback Machine. So far, the authors have been able to restore the "Update Center" version 3.1 - it supports Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98 (First and Second Editions), Windows Millennium Edition and Windows 2000 up to update SP2. In the future, it is planned to recreate all versions of the "Update Center" up to the 6th version. Compatibility can be seen in this table:
To run the restored "Update Center" 3.1, you will need Internet Explorer 5.0 or later, the creators recommend using Internet Explorer 5.5.
The authors of the project note that they do not recommend users to stay on older versions of the system and are advised to switch to modern operating systems like Windows 10 and 11, or even Linux. The main task of the creators was to create an archive of updates to old versions of systems for enthusiasts who need to refer to old versions of systems, and not for everyday use.
