Thing of the day: Sol Reader - glasses for reading books with E Ink screens

The American manufacturer Sol has introduced the first generation of glasses for reading e-books Sol Reader. They look like ordinary VR glasses and work in conjunction with an iOS or Android smartphone.

Through a special application, text is displayed on two E Ink screens. At the same time, peripheral vision is preserved: the user will be able to see what is happening on the sides without being distracted from the book or document for a long time.

The brightness of the LED backlight can be adjusted manually, and there is also a sensor to automatically adjust to the ambient light. Moreover, you can additionally adjust the diopter range for each screen. As a result, most users will not need glasses or contact lenses when wearing the Sol Reader.

The manufacturer promises 25 hours of battery life and a full charge in 2 hours. The package includes a small wireless remote for scrolling and turning pages.

Sol Reader is already available for pre-order on the manufacturer's website in black, silver, gold and dark blue for $350 (≈31,700 rubles). The release is expected in the fall.
