Hackers use it to access crypto wallets.
Experts from Bitdefender discovered malware called JokerSpy, which can infect three systems at once - macOS, Windows and Linux. With its help, attackers can gain complete control over someone else's computer.
The virus is written in Python. In addition, it uses the SwiftBelt open source tool for network security testing.
Getting on someone else's device, JokerSpy gains access to confidential data and can independently download other malicious files that allow you to track all user actions.
Researchers at Elastic also found a binary associated with the virus on the system of a "famous Japanese cryptocurrency exchange." Analysts believe that stealing funds from crypto wallets was the main goal of the software creators.
Experts have determined that the virus was developed specifically for macOS. But we found additional elements in it that indicate possible versions for Windows and Linux. However, they have not yet established exactly how JokerSpy penetrates computers.
