Laziness has always been the engine of progress, especially when it comes to vacuum cleaners. Robots have greatly simplified the cleaning process and reduced its frequency. Models with automatic dust collector cleaning are another step in the same direction. The Honor Choice Robot Cleaner R2 Plus, which fell into our hands, belongs to this class of devices.

This unit supports wet cleaning and comes with a self-cleaning dock, but it costs like an average vacuum cleaner without a dock. Is there a catch - we understand in this review.

Equipment

The robot comes in a large cardboard box. It is quite weighty: only the vacuum cleaner itself weighs more than 3.5 kg. Alone, it can be transferred from a store or pick-up point to a car, but it’s better not to count on more.

Inside the robot vacuum cleaner itself, a cleaning and charging station, a microfiber nozzle for wet cleaning, a small brush for cleaning the device, as well as instructions in Russian and other pieces of paper.

Both brushes, the dust container and the water tank are immediately installed in their places. You don’t have to screw and paste anything yourself, all that remains is to remove the protective stickers and stoppers. Similarly with the bag: it is already connected to the self-cleaning station.

Appearance

In terms of design, everything is standard: a round body, sensors along the edges, a movable front bumper and a lidar on top. There, at the top, buttons to start cleaning and return to base. On the side there is an additional toggle switch that allows you to completely turn off the device.

The dust box and water tank are removed from the rear. They are attached to each other and look like a single unit, but they can be separated - the stickers on top clearly show how to do this.

It is convenient to draw water into the tank directly from the tap by lifting the silicone valve. No mugs or funnels are required.

The base, connected to the network with a Euro plug, is a large container with two contacts for charging the vacuum cleaner and a dust suction channel. The lid opens on top, where the bag is placed.

There is an LED indicator on the front of the base that flashes red when the dust box is not installed correctly, the station cover is open, or some kind of error.

Mobility

The vacuum cleaner itself can hardly be called very compact, rather, it is medium in size. Attention here should be paid only to the dimensions of the base, if you plan to place it, for example, under a TV cabinet or a coffee table.

The Robot Cleaner R2 Plus Charging Station measures 220 x 180 x 380mm. There are two things to keep in mind when choosing a location. Firstly, a margin of half a meter is required on the left and right, and one and a half meters in front, so that the robot can return home normally. Secondly, the bag from the base is removed from above, which means that when placed under the cabinet, the entire base will have to be moved away. But this is a small problem, since you will have to do this infrequently.

The height of the body of the vacuum cleaner itself is 9.5 cm - this is not much. Under the sofa or bed, the robot should fit, although this depends more on the furniture itself. In our case, he even managed to get under a hanger with clothes and shoes, and then he safely got out of this trap.

The vacuum cleaner is perfectly oriented in space. Lidar scans the room at 1,800 revolutions per second and provides 360° coverage for accurate mapping of the work area. With each new cleaning, he first bypasses the entire perimeter along the edge and only then gradually moves to the center like a snake.

The device recognizes obstacles well and may not even touch them with its “forehead”, stopping literally in a centimeter. If you transfer it to some new place within the familiar zone, then it will quickly orient itself and understand exactly where you moved it.

The wheels are large enough, they allow the robot to overcome obstacles up to 2 cm high. That is, he can easily cope with small thresholds, and he will call on the carpet. But with the round metal leg of the clothes dryer - the famous thunderstorm of robot vacuum cleaners - there can be problems. Fortunately, they can be avoided by adding restrictions and no-go areas for cleaning in the app.

Dry cleaning

The robot can easily clean smooth surfaces - tiles and laminate. The suction power of 2,700 Pa is more than enough to pick up all the "daily dust" of household hair. pets and other small debris. Inside, a HEPA filter is installed for this.

With spilled cereals and something of a comparable size, there will also be no particular problems. In our experiment with buckwheat, the side brush at first scattered the groats a little, but after a couple of runs, they carefully raked everything under the device for easy suction into the container. With flour or flakes, everything is much simpler: the device “eats” them almost the first time.

The main brush here is not very large - smaller than on many Xiaomi models. But this does not affect the quality of cleaning: the space remains clean.

But this brush automatically determines the type of surface by resistance. This allows you to increase the power when cleaning carpets - you will hear how the robot buzzes more when it hits a thick pile. In this mode, the noise level rises to 62 dB against the standard 56 dB.

And with such enhanced cleaning, Robot Cleaner R2 Plus does a good job. It will be possible to shake out the door mat much less often, but you still have to do it. It is better to save small rugs and rugs from the robot: they easily slide on the floor, so the vacuum cleaner will simply drag them along.

Wet cleaning

For wet cleaning at the bottom of the vacuum cleaner, you need to fix the nozzle with microfiber, and pour water into the tank - it holds 300 ml, which is quite a lot. That's all - the rag is wetted automatically and wipes the floor in the direction of the vacuum cleaner.

The sponge does not get soaked immediately, so do not be surprised that there will not be a wet mark at first.

You can adjust the water supply by increasing the flow rate only when planning cleaning - in the corresponding section of the mobile application, which we will discuss below.

Working time

The 3200 mAh battery inside the robot provides up to 100 minutes of continuous operation. This is far from a record figure, but it is quite enough for an average apartment.

If there is a shortage of power, Robot Cleaner R2 Plus will return to the charging station and start working again from the same place where it left off, as soon as the battery is charged to 80%. It takes about 5 hours to fully recharge the battery.

It is not necessary to remove the vacuum cleaner container manually after each cleaning. All dust and debris are automatically sucked into the bag at the base as soon as the robot returns to recharge.

The suction power of the self-cleaning station is over 26,000 Pa. This is enough to clean the 350 ml container even from very small particles. True, the noise at the same time is decent - like an airplane is taking off.

The dust bag built into the base has a volume of 4 liters. It is easily removed with a convenient locking handle - no contact with dust.

How often the bag will have to be changed depends on the area and frequency of cleaning, but usually four liters is enough for several months. If measured in full containers of the vacuum cleaner itself, then this is about 13 large cleanings.

I would like to note that only one bag is included with the device, which is already inserted. There is no additional one, which means that you will have to buy it after a few months of use. A set of five bags will cost 2,000 rubles.

Mobile app

The vacuum cleaner is connected and controlled through the Robot Sweeper application. It supports Russian language and is available for both Android and iOS.

In the application, you need to go through a quick registration and add a vacuum cleaner using a QR code - it is located below, next to the brush. Next, you need to connect the device to your home Wi-Fi network - everything is according to the instructions, everything is simple.

In the application itself, you can view a map of the premises, monitor the movement of the vacuum cleaner, create restricted areas where get out it is not necessary, and also to take manual control - like a radio-controlled machine, but with a slight signal delay.

When drawing up a cleaning plan through the map editor, you can adjust the surface wetting force and suction power for each room, as well as select the order in which rooms are cleaned. So the robot can first go, for example, to the bedroom, then to the living room, and only then to the corridor.

You can start cleaning through Robot Sweeper from anywhere, even while in another city. In this case, you can observe the movement of the device and its charge. This is convenient if you don't plan to set a work schedule (although this is possible), but just want to start cleaning on the way home.

You can also adjust the voice guidance volume. The robot speaks, by the way, immediately in Russian, in a female voice. There is even a search command that makes the device respond - in case you lose it in the apartment.

We also note a useful settings section with consumables - it displays the remaining life of the filter and brushes in hours of operation of the vacuum cleaner. When the period expires, a recommendation will appear on the replacement of consumables.

Results

Robot Cleaner R2 Plus left a pleasant impression. The vacuum cleaner works stably, with high power and high-quality self-cleaning. This is exactly the model that can be trusted with scheduled cleaning. All you have to do is add water - just like in the old ad drinks Invite.

As for the shortcomings, there are several of them, and they are rather conditional. Firstly, sucking dust into a bag is a rather noisy process. If your baby is sleeping at this time, be ready to put him down again.

Secondly, the capacity of the dust collector is only 350 ml. Usually this volume is enough to clean an apartment up to 40 square meters. m, although this is highly dependent on the frequency of the vacuum cleaner and the presence of carpets and animals in the house. For a large area, this model may not be suitable.
