1. Värämänselkä Ridge
Where is: Reserve "Gryada Vyaryamyanselka", Leningrad region.

The route starts in the village of Petäjärvi, where the railway station of the same name is located. Pellotsari is a small rocky island in the northern part of Lake Ladoga. 30 kilometers from it is the famous Valaam, where there is a monastery. There are no imposing buildings on Pellotsari. The main attraction of the island is a circular hiking trail that crosses coniferous and deciduous forests, a sandy beach and a meadow. Part of the path passes along the road through which quartz mined in quarries was previously transported. During the walk you will see an abandoned Finnish farm - people are here lived until the middle of the last century. You can get to the island from Sortavala or during a tourist cruise on Lake Ladoga.

They named it in honor of the German scientist and engineer Franz Ef, who for many years have worked on the Curonian Spit. The dune was not so safe in those days: in the 18th century, trees were cut down around it, the sand began to move and absorb the nearest villages. Works on the restoration of the forest and led the scientist. Now the dune is safe and accessible for walking. Three observation platforms are equipped on the route: to the Baltic Sea, the Curonian Lagoon and the village of Morskoe.
