When you want to do your best, make sure it doesn't come out the same as always.
Authorities of the French city of Lille are going pay motorists who will leave their cars at home during peak hours. In this way, the mayor's office hopes to get rid of traffic jams.
To understand how this measure works, it will first be tested on five thousand drivers. Cars will be tracked using GPS trackers. For the refusal of one trip, drivers will be charged 2 euros, for a day without trips during rush hour - 4, for a month - 80.
Whether this experiment will end in success, time will tell. But it's already good that the Lille authorities are testing the scheme before implementing it everywhere. In this issue, we share how untested ideas didn't solve problems, but made them worse.
