Oatmeal with Milk and Tomatoes and Avocado Dessert: 5-Cooking ChatGPT Recipes
Miscellaneous / / June 11, 2023
The culinary abilities of artificial intelligence are amazing.
In recent months, we have managed to understand that ChatGPT is a jack of all trades. The chatbot is equally good at writing theses, giving wise advice, coming up with ideas for startups, and even going to goodbye. It became interesting for me to test the skills of AI in creating recipes, so for a week I cooked and tasted the dishes that ChatGPT offered.
For the purity of the experiment, I used the first recipes issued upon request and tried not to deviate from the recommendations of the neural network. Her spelling and punctuation have been preserved in the recipes.
1. Bruschetta with tomatoes and basil
I decided to start simple and gave the AI the task of coming up with a snack that could be quickly prepared when the guests arrived.
Request: A simple holiday appetizer recipe with seasonal summer foods.
Ingredients
- 1 baguette;
- 4 tomatoes;
- 2 cloves of garlic;
- fresh basil;
- olive oil;
- salt and pepper to taste.
Cooking
Cut the baguette into slices about 1 cm thick. Toast the baguette pieces on the grill or in a dry frying pan until golden brown. Cut the tomatoes in half, remove the seeds and cut the flesh into cubes. Grate the teeth garlic for each piece of baguette. Place a few sliced tomatoes on each piece of baguette. Sprinkle with fresh basil and salt and pepper to taste. Drizzle with olive oil before serving.
Ready bruschetta can be decorated with basil leaves. This simple but very tasty dish will be a great snack for any summer holiday!
How did the dish
Tomatoes, basil, olive oil and bread are a classic combination that works perfectly. So the bruschetta turned out to be delicious. I liked the AI tip to remove the tomato seeds, which kept the baguette from getting soggy and crispy, and made the appetizer look neater. I think the main thing in such a simple dish is to choose quality products: fresh bread, sweet tomatoes, fragrant basil and good olive oil.
2. Salted oatmeal
My second request to ChatGPT was more specific: I asked for the original oatmeal recipe to be generated.
Request: salty oatmeal with an unusual combination of flavors.
Ingredients
- 2 cups of oatmeal;
- 1 glass of water;
- ½ cup milk;
- ¼ teaspoon salt;
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper;
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric;
- ¼ teaspoon of cumin;
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper;
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil;
- ¼ cup chopped fresh vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers)
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions.
Cooking
Combine oatmeal, water and milk in a saucepan. Place over medium heat and bring to a boil. Add salt, black pepper, turmeric, cumin and red pepper. Stir and continue cooking until the porridge thickens.
Heat the olive oil in a separate pan and add the chopped vegetables. Saute over medium heat until vegetables are soft. Pour the porridge into a bowl, add the fried vegetables and chopped green onions on top.
This salty oatmeal with a combination of a variety of spices and fresh vegetables is a great choice for breakfast or lunch. Try adding your favorite spices and vegetables to create your own unique version of this recipe. Bon appetit!
How did the dish
I love cereals with unsweetened additives and occasionally cook them for breakfast, but I never use milk in them. Therefore, I was distrustful of this product in the composition, especially its combination with a lot of spices and green onions was embarrassing.
But, to my surprise, the milk did not seem superfluous there. It made the porridge more tender and helped smooth out the spiciness of the red pepper. The taste of spicy milk oatmeal reminded gave and other Indian dishes. Still, I did not dare to fry cucumbers and used only tomatoes and peppers. Juicy vegetables complemented the porridge well, and green onions made it brighter. The end result is a slightly odd but harmonious dish that pairs well with several different flavors and textures. Perhaps I would add this recipe in a slightly modified form to my menu.
3. Cocoa avocado pudding
It seemed to me that if you add a little more restrictions to the query, then the result will be more interesting. Therefore, this time I set the framework for the number of ingredients and the method of preparation.
Request: 5-piece no-bake dessert.
Ingredients
- 2 ripe avocados;
- ½ cup cocoa powder;
- ¼ cup honey or maple syrup
- ¼ teaspoon salt;
- ½ cup milk.
Cooking
Clear avocado from the skin and bone. Put it in a blender. Add cocoa powder, honey or maple syrup and salt to a blender. Add milk and run blender on high speed until smooth. Divide the pudding into portions and refrigerate for several hours. Garnish with fresh fruit, berries or nuts before serving.
This five-ingredient no-bake dessert is quick to make and delicious. The avocado adds a creamy texture and healthy fats, while the cocoa powder adds sweetness and chocolate flavor. Try this recipe and enjoy a healthy dessert!
How did the dish
AI did not deceive: the pudding really turned out to be creamy and tender. The taste of cocoa was intense, so the avocado was almost not felt and only gave a slight nutty-herbaceous note at the end. I liked that the dessert came out not very sweet, but I would also reduce the amount of honey. I highly recommend adding fresh berries or fruits to the pudding, as recommended by ChatGPT. I had strawberries and they paired just fine with the rich chocolate pudding.
4. Vegetable stew with quinoa
I thought about what the AI would eat if it became a person, and decided to ask him directly.
Request: a dish that the neural network would like.
Ingredients
- 1 large onion;
- 2 cloves of garlic;
- 1 red pepper;
- 1 yellow pepper;
- 2 carrots;
- 1 zucchini;
- 1 eggplant;
- 1 glass of quinoa;
- 2 cups vegetable broth;
- ½ teaspoon turmeric;
- ½ teaspoon paprika;
- salt and pepper to taste;
- fresh herbs for decoration.
Cooking
Cut the onion, garlic, pepper, carrot, zucchini and eggplant into pieces. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add vegetables. Saute them until soft. Add quinoa, broth, turmeric, paprika, salt and pepper to skillet. Stir and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and cover the skillet with a lid. Cook the stew until the quinoa is done and the liquid has evaporated. Serve the vegetable stew on plates, garnished with fresh herbs.
This dish is hearty, tasty and healthy. Quinoa is high in protein and fiber, while vegetables are rich in vitamins and minerals. The neural network will appreciate it for the combination of different textures and tastes, as well as for its nutritional value.
How did the dish
Usually quinoa I cook separately, and then I mix it with something, but I liked this way of cooking. The cereal has absorbed the broth and juice from the vegetables and has acquired a richer taste. The stew turned out hearty enough to be served as a separate dish, but I think it will make a good side dish. I would advise you to keep the vegetables on fire a little less: by the end of cooking, the zucchini and peppers are too soft.
5. Chicken fillet with vegetables in teriyaki sauce
ChatGPT's quinoa and avocado dishes were a success, but I wondered how his recipe would turn out with more budget-friendly products.
Request: an inexpensive dinner dish that should take less than 30 minutes to prepare.
Ingredients
- 500 g chicken fillet;
- 2 carrots;
- 1 red pepper;
- 1 onion;
- 2 cloves of garlic;
- 3 tablespoons teriyaki sauce;
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil;
- salt and pepper to taste.
Cooking
Cut the chicken fillet into small pieces. Peel and cut carrots, peppers and onions into cubes. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the chicken fillet until golden brown. Add the chopped vegetables to the pan and sauté everything together for another 5 minutes. Add teriyaki sauce and mix all ingredients. Add minced garlic, salt and pepper to taste. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are soft.
The finished dish can be served with rice or buckwheat. This simple and quick dish is a great option for a weekday dinner.
How did the dish
A really good option for a weekday dinner when you don’t want to invent something complicated. It turned out simple and satisfying, but without much enthusiasm. I did not have enough spices, and the chicken seemed a little dry. Perhaps it was worth cutting it larger or taking it instead breasts more juicy thigh fillet. I also wanted more sauce so that it soaked the rice a little, which I boiled for a side dish. I'm not sure if the dish can be called budget, but it's unlikely that ChatGPT often checks prices in stores.
Results of the experiment
ChatGPT recipes are quite working, he didn’t offer me any frank game and took into account the compatibility of products. I would not constantly use a chatbot in the kitchen, after all, I trust the authors of dishes with taste buds more. But ChatGPT can be a good source of inspiration if you run out of ideas and feel like experimenting. My advice: for best results, be as specific as possible and tailor the recipes to your taste.
