Android 14 will start displaying battery status

XDA Developers Editor Mishaal Rahman discovered in the Android 14 beta, there are hints of a long-awaited feature: displaying the battery status in the smartphone settings.
A year earlier, the development of this function was noticed when analyzing the Android 13 code, but for some reason it was not possible to complete it, and the mentions were cut out. Now development has resumed: in the latest Android 14 beta build, a number of APIs for the BatteryManager function have been discovered. They are responsible, among other things, for the cycle counter, charge status, production date and first use of the battery.
To prove the concept, an enthusiast goes by the name narector put together a working battery health tracker relying entirely on these APIs. His work he posted on Gitlab. It is noted that the application simply collects the data provided by the API, the creator does not vouch for their accuracy.
This feature has long been available in smartphones from Apple and some manufacturers of Android devices with their own skins, including Samsung (via the Galaxy Members app). However, One UI only displays the battery status, not the maximum capacity percentage. Let's hope that with the release of Android 14, the system will still catch up with iOS and One UI in this regard.
