"Yandex Keyboard" now supports neural network swipe

Neuroswipe, a new swipe recognition technology, has been added to Yandex Keyboard, with which the continuous input of words has become more accurate and convenient. Previously, lines drawn by the user were recognized on the basis of formulas created by people, but now these formulas create and constantly improve neural networks.

The keyboard simultaneously reads the drawn line, selects suitable words and ranks the options, determining the only suitable one. This takes into account the context: previously typed text and in which application the input is performed. Cases and endings adapt to the sentence.

To train the neural network, seven million examples of real swipes provided by users during the crowdsourcing campaign were used. So far, neuroswipe works only in Russian, but in the future it is planned to add support for other popular languages.

Representatives of Yandex note that for advanced users, swipe input speeds up the creation of messages by 60% compared to spelling. In turn, neuroswipe further improves accuracy by eliminating up to 30% of errors and typos compared to a regular swipe.
