Weather, appointments and notifications: new widgets will appear on the iPhone lock screen

The phone should be useful, even if it just lies on the table.
Apple is working on a new feature in iOS 17 that will turn your iPhone's lock screen into a smart display. About it informed authoritative insider Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.
The updated interface will include weather, appointments scheduled in the calendar and other notifications. These widgets will be displayed with a dark background and bright text when the smartphone is locked and laying horizontally with the screen facing up. Thus, the developers want to make the phone useful even when it just lies on the table.
According to Gurman, the Cupertino company plans to implement this option in iPad. A charging magnetic stand is also being developed for the tablet, like Google Pixel Tablet.
Once the gadget is docked, its display can be configured to display various smart home controls or used as a digital photo frame.
Apple is expected to introduce a new feature and iPad stand on World Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.
