Six people inside, speed up to 250 km / h and flight range up to 500 km.
The Russian Foundation for Advanced Study has begun the creation of the innovative Cyclocar air vehicle. The main executor of the project is the Institute of Thermophysics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, writes RIA News.
The aircraft is designed for six people or lifting cargo weighing up to 600 kg. It is held in the air by cyclical movers. Their main advantages include fast 360-degree thrust vectoring, low noise level and compactness.
The estimated dimensions of the Cyclocar will be 6 meters 20 centimeters long by 6 meters wide. He will be able to develop a maximum speed of up to 250 kilometers per hour, and the maximum flight range will be 500 kilometers. It is assumed that with its help it will be possible to make non-stop flights from Moscow, for example, to Nizhny Novgorod or Voronezh.
The creators note that in addition to its compact dimensions, in comparison with helicopter technology, the Cyclocar has several more significant advantages. This is the possibility of mooring to vertical surfaces and landing at an inclination of up to 30 degrees. At the same time, it will not be more difficult to drive it than modern cars. This can be done not only directly from the cockpit, but also through a gadget over the Internet or centrally from a ground control point.
Now the preliminary design of the machine has been made, ground tests of the cyclic a propeller (cyclic rotor) with a diameter of one and a half meters, a test flight of a 60-kilogram prototype. Flights of the first full-size model to be equipped with an all-electric propulsion system, planned already for 2022.
