Sony releases Backbone One PlayStation Edition controller for Android smartphones
Miscellaneous / / May 24, 2023
It works with any smartphones running Android 8 and up.
Almost a year after release official game controller Backbone One PlayStation Edition for iPhone, a similar gadget was released for Android smartphones. This is a Sony licensed gadget designed to play on a smartphone. It is compatible with both mobile games and console games from PS4 and PS5 via Remote Play. Support for Xbox and PC is also present.
The design of the controller is inspired by the DualSense gamepad: the icons on the buttons are the same, there is also a button for recording a video screen and turning the microphone on / off. The orange key launches the Backbone utility for configuring controls.
The device weighs only 138 grams, but does not have a built-in battery. It uses smartphone power to recharge, and there is also USB-C for pass-through charging while playing. There is also a 3.5mm port for wired headphones.
Backbone One can be connected to other official accessories, including the Pulse 3D headset.
The Android version of the Backbone One PlayStation Edition costs $100, just like the iPhone model.
