1Password to Support Passkey Technology in June
Miscellaneous / / May 16, 2023
In the service for storing and managing passwords 1Password finally will appear support for passkey technology, which announced even at the beginning of the year. Users will be able to log into the service using only biometrics and private keys.
This means that passwords will be a thing of the past. It will be possible to forget about two-factor authentication keys, and with them about confirmation codes via SMS.
For 1Password, a fingerprint or face scanner will suffice. And to enter the account in the browser - a smartphone.
The company noted that passkey provides better protection against hackers and phishing attacks because it does not use a fixed login or transmitted code that can be stolen or intercepted.
The new feature will start appearing in 1Password on June 6th. At first, the company will not abandon traditional passwords and will provide users with the opportunity to choose the format themselves.
