American scientist broke the record for life under water

On March 1, University of South Florida professor Joseph Dituri, known online as Dr. deepsea, began unusual experiment. He settled in the hotel "Underwater House of Jules", which is located off the coast of Florida (USA) at a depth of about 9 meters under the surface of the Atlantic Ocean.
Unlike submarines, such housing does not use any special technology to adapt to increased pressure. In 2014, University of Tennessee biologists Bruce Cantrell and Jessica Fane stayed in the same hotel for 73 days, two hours and 34 minutes. This remained the record for continuous human habitation underwater until May 15, 2023, when Dituri noted 74 days from dive.
The scientist is not going to stop at this. The mission, which he calls Project Neptune, sees him stay in an underwater hotel until June 9 and set a new record of 100 days of uninterrupted submergence.
During these 74 days, he managed to conduct online classes for more than 2,500 students of his university. He also gave several interviews. In general, with the exception of regular diving, his days are not much different from usual: every day he does physical exercises, cooks in a microwave oven and does research.
One of his goals is to learn how prolonged exposure to water affects human physiology. To do this, he makes daily measurements. He also studies the effects of long life in isolation on the human body.
