Scientists: by 2100 the climate on Earth will change beyond recognition

Europe will suffer the most.
Scientists from George Mason University (USA) simulated the Earth's weather until 2100 and came to disappointing conclusion: the planet will change so much that we will have to redraw climate maps, based on Koepper system back in the 1880s. Study published in Earth's Future magazine.
Since the beginning of the 20th century, the Earth has already undergone a change in climate classification on 14.77% of the land area. The most significant transformations were observed in North America, Europe and Oceania.

From the new study it follows that by the end of this century, from 38% to 40% of the world's land will move to other climatic zones. Scientists do not rule out an increase in estimates up to 50%. That is, almost half of the globe may be in new conditions.
Tropical climate will expand from 23% to 25% and aridity from 31% to 34%. In general, the planet will become hotter. The most noticeable changes are expected in Europe and North America. These continents will move into a different climate zone by 89% and 66%, respectively.
However, these predicted shifts in climate zones represent only a “range of possibilities” because modeling the behavior of some variables (for example, precipitation) is more difficult than others (temperature), notes in research. They also cover only land masses, not taking into account oceans and Antarctica (due to data gaps). In other words, in reality, the changes can be much more serious.
In any case, it is clear that the pace global warming will accelerate, the authors note. This can adversely affect the food production system and lead to the spread of mosquito-borne diseases.
