Russians have become much less likely to change smartphones. When did you update?

By data Forbes, from 2019 to 2021, the average life of mobile devices among Russians has grown to 3.5 years, and from 2022 it may be 4 years or more. At the same time, in 2016-2017, users changed smartphones every 2 years on average. These data were brought to the publication by a representative of diHouse, one of the major suppliers of computer equipment and smartphones.
M.Video-Eldorado also noted a trend towards an increase in the replacement period for smartphones - but according to their estimates, it is 2.5-3 years, while a few years ago the average user changed their smartphone every 2-2.5 of the year.
Experts believe that two factors influenced this: the departure of key brands from the Russian market and the lack of innovation for which users would like to replace their smartphone with a new one. If earlier NFC or eSIM were enough reason to upgrade, now the new gadget will not bring such noticeable improvements.
Lifehacker decided to find out how his audience is doing. Share in the comments: how long ago did you buy the smartphone you use now, and what model is it?
