How to determine the size of shoes
Miscellaneous / / April 06, 2023
It takes only a few minutes.
What to consider when determining the size of shoes
- Try to take measurements in the evening: at this time, the volume of the foot may be larger. So you can definitely choose the right pair that will not become tight after a long day on your feet.
- If you plan to buy closed shoes, measure your feet with socks on. When choosing a winter pair, you can take thicker socks.
- For wide feet or if there is a so-called bone near the big toes, choose shoes that are half a size or one size larger than the actual indicator.
- You can safely add 1 cm to the length of the child's foot or buy shoes one size larger. As a rule, children grow quickly, and very soon a pair chosen size to size may be tight.
How to find out the size of the foot
This parameter is considered the main one when choosing shoes.
Measure your foot length
What you need
- Paper;
- pencil, pen or felt-tip pen;
- long line.
What to do
Lay a blank sheet of paper on the floor and place your foot on it. It is important that there are no joints in this section.
tiles or other flooring, as well as carpets. Circle the foot with a pencil, pen or felt-tip pen, trying to keep it perpendicular to the floor. Do the same with the other leg.You can also determine the length of the foot with the help of insoles. Take out one of the matching pair of shoes and trace on paper.
Use a ruler to measure the distance between the farthest points on both drawings - from the thumb to heels.
Almost every person's feet can differ from one another in length. Take the parameter of the larger leg and round it up to 5 mm, for children you can add 1 cm. And then find your indicator in the table and determine the shoe size from it.

How to determine the fullness of the leg
This is an auxiliary parameter that helps to more accurately select a comfortable pair of shoes.
Measure your foot
What you need
Soft measuring tape.
What to do
Place your foot on a hard, flat floor so that it is firmly planted on the surface. Find the highest (highest) point in the forefoot and measure the circumference of the foot with a soft tape measure at this point.
Do the same with the other leg and select a larger value in millimeters. You need to be guided by it in order to choose a pair of shoes. It is permissible to add 7 mm to the parameter.
Define completeness
Find your shoe size in the table and compare it with the girth of the foot in millimeters. The resulting number will be the desired fullness of the shoes.
