Windows 11 2023 update schedule revealed

At the end of 2022, Microsoft redesigned the Windows update scheme. If earlier the main innovations were presented once a year, now new features will appear every few months with updates moments. Windows Central edition shared information on what to expect from such updates in 2023 — and when exactly they will be released.

The next major update, which should be released in February or March. There are more details about him. Here are the features and improvements expected:

• Reduced taskbar for working in tablet mode (when only the touchscreen is used, and the keyboard and mouse are not connected).
• A completely redesigned notification area that will better integrate with the Windows 11 interface.
• Additional features of the search bar.
• Power consumption recommendations in settings.
• Search in the task manager.
• Full screen panel with widgets.
• Windows Studio effects in the quick settings panel.
• Voice input improvements.

The first feature has previously appeared in Windows 10X. It reduces the taskbar so that the user has more space to interact with programs. When the panel is needed, it can be deployed with one click - and it will be larger than usual, so that the icons are easier to press with your finger if you do not use a stylus. It looks like this:

This update should be expected in May-June. Details about the innovations are still scarce, but it is known that Microsoft will focus on folding computers - both with one and two screens. Changes are likely to affect the search interface and standard applications. In particular, in this or subsequent 2023 updates, Microsoft will abandon the Mail and "Calendar" in favor of the new Outlook web client, which will also be able to work with third-party email boxes.

Windows 11 23H2 / Moment 4

The transition to the new update system does not mean that Microsoft will abandon the traditional annual update. Around September or October, it is worth waiting for 23H2 with new features. However, unlike previous updates of this type, it will no longer be a key one and will be comparable in scale to updates like Moment.

Around the same time, Moment 4 is expected to release - perhaps they will be released almost simultaneously, as in 2022, when Moment 1 was released immediately after 22H2.
