The 2nd season of "Vampires of the middle band" began unsuccessfully. But it's too early to draw conclusions about the series

On December 13, streaming services Start and IVI presented the first episode of the second season of the series “Middle Band Vampires”. It turned out too faded to draw conclusions.

Alexey Akimov (Fitness, Matchmakers-2, Matchmakers-3) remained the showrunner of the series, but the director has changed. Instead of Anton Maslov ("High-rise building"), the second season was filmed by Dmitry Gribanov ("Grand", "Two Hills").

The main roles were played by Yuri Stoyanov (Gorodok), Artyom Tkachenko (Black Spring), Olga Medynich (Sweet Life). Anastasia Stezhko ("Dislike") replaced Ekaterina Kuznetsova ("Kitchen") in the role of Anna Ostroumova.

The events of the second season take place a short time after the end of the first. Smolensk vampires lead a measured life and try not to get into trouble. Suddenly, the police find a dead man with fangs, and next to him - a man without a head. The vampires are trying to find out what happened at the crime scene so that suspicions do not fall on them again.

The detective line is used again

Detective line first season was good because it introduced the viewer into the world of the series. The investigation revealed the essence of the characters, their relationships and history. Probably, in the second season, the detective component will play the same role, and the viewer will see new characters (and new creatures).

The first episode does not allow you to be sure of this - in principle, it provides very little information.

Too slow pace of the story makes you spend almost an hour just to see familiar characters again.

The series has been extended again

One of the problems of the first season was the timing. Eight episodes turned out to be too much for the planned story, so after the fourth or fifth series, the series began to sag. There were two reasons: the detective story itself was becoming less and less interesting, and the characters were increasingly repeating the same actions and jokes.

By the debut of the second season, one gets the feeling that no work has been done on the bugs. Because of this, the characters have become even more predictable.

For example, Svyatoslav Vernidubovich's flashbacks were pretty boring in the first season because of the same jokes. In the second season, they look like a parody of a parody. The hero is still shown in the thick historical events, but all this is reminiscent of individual issues of "Gorodok", which are designed to increase the timing.

The surprise effect is gone.

The first season not only delighted the audience, but also surprised - the provincial Russian vampires looked both shocking and familiar. Because of this, the series could be forgiven for a lot. By the second season, the viewer comes already familiar with the world of Smolensk vampires, so you need to surprise differently.

I would like to make a mistake, but the first series creates the feeling that nothing new can be shown. It begs comparisons to Hannibal, where the second season looked like a hangover after the first: the same faces, the same actions, but everything is much slower.

The first episode can be deceiving

It’s definitely not worth drawing conclusions on the first series, since the first season began rather ambiguously. Perhaps only by the middle of the second episode did it become clear what the series would be like.

If you love the first season very much, then there will be no problems watching it. And if you were disappointed by the last series, then it will become difficult to watch.

Why the viewer was not immediately thrown into the thick of things is a question for the writers. But there is a feeling that the desire to increase the timing will again harm the series.

If you miss the heroes and barbs of Stanislav Vernidubovich, then you should not miss the premiere. Although it is better to wait at least one more episode, otherwise it will seem that you watched the trailer.
