We understand the rules of the popular board game.
What is "Uno"
Uno is a board card game that can bring together from 2 to 10 players of any age. Each is dealt 7 cards, the rest of the deck goes to the center of the table. Players must take turns discarding their cards to the adjacent pile, given their color, denomination or symbol. However, not all so simple. Active cards add fun to the game, which can force the enemy to take too much from the deck or change the direction of the move.
The point of the game is simple - get rid of the cards in your hand as quickly as possible. This round will end, and it will be necessary to calculate the points.
What do the cards in Uno mean?
There are 108 main cards in the Uno deck and there can be up to four additional ones.
regular cards
Ordinary cards with numbers from 0 to 9 in four colors - blue, yellow, green and red. There are 76 pieces in total (4 with the number 0 in different colors and two with numbers from 1 to 9 in each color).
They are placed on the same color or on a card with the same number.
Action cards
Among the multi-colored there are more copies with additional features. They are called action cards. Options "Take two", "On the contrary" and "Skip the move" in a deck of 8 pieces (2 of each color).
- «Vice versa” (or “Change direction) is indicated by arrows and leads the turn in the round in the opposite direction. It can be placed on a card of the same color or with the same icon. If the player in front of you used this card in an attempt to take away your turn, you have the right to put the same one to return everything back.
- «Take two» is used to make the next player take two additional cards and skip the turn. It is placed on the same color or on the same card. If you get “Take two”, put the same one on top so that the next player does not draw additional cards, but the next one. The actions of the “Take two” cards are not summed up, and if several people in a row are “saved” in this way, the last player on whom the “chain” ends takes only two cards and skips the turn.
- «Skip a turn» with a crossed out circle speaks for itself. Placed on the same color or the same card. You can save yourself from skipping a turn by laying out the same card.
wild cards
In addition to color, there are also wild, black cards that give their owner Super abilities. There are 2 options, each with 4 cards.
- «Order a color» can be placed on top of any card and force the next player to move in the color you choose.
- «take four"not only changes the color (you can even ask for the current one), but also makes the next player take 4 cards from the deck and skip the turn. True, you can use it only if you really have nothing else to walk with. In this case, the player to whom the action of the wild card is directed can request a fairness check and ask to show the cards. If the suspicions are justified, the one who put the super card takes it back, takes 4 more from the deck and skips the turn. If not, the doubter draws the due 4 cards plus 2 more for disbelief and skips the turn. You can save yourself from the effect of the “Order a color and take four” card by laying out a “Take two” card of the ordered color.
Additional cards
Additional may be "Exchange" and blank cards for your own rules or replacing lost ones.
- «Exchange» («Shuffle») makes it possible to exchange cards with another player. But it is not included in the standard rules and is used in the deck only if you want to diversify the game.
- The same applies to empty black (wild) card, for which you can come up with your own "trick".
How much are the cards
Each card has its own "cost", which is taken into account when summing up the results of each round. Numeric cards (from 0 to 9) are equivalent to their values. Colored special symbols ("vice versa", "skip" and "take two") will bring 20 points for each. Any of the black (wild) cards "weighs" as much as 50 points.
How to play Uno
The game goes clockwise. The dealer (with the beginning of each round, this role usually also rotates clockwise) deals out 7 cards to all players. The remaining deck is placed face down in the center of the table (this is considered a "Buy"), one card from it is turned over and placed next to it (this will be a "Discard").
The player after the dealer goes first. He needs to put the card in the "Discard" and it must meet one of the criteria:
- be the same color as the Discard card;
- have the same number, picture, or be a black (wild) card.
If there is nothing suitable on hand, you need to take a card from the "Prikup". If it fits, put it in "Reset". If not, take it for yourself, say "Pass" and pass the move to the next one. This is how the round goes.
In this case, the player who has one card left must warn the others about this. Putting the penultimate one in the "Reset", he must have time to say "Uno!" before the card falls on table. If he forgot to do this or his opponents got ahead of him and shouted “Uno!” before, you have to take 2 cards from the deck.
The round ends when one of the players gets rid of the cards in his hand. After that, it's time for scoring.
How to determine the winner
After each round, points can be calculated in two ways. Just agree with the company in advance which one you will use in the game.
- The winner of the round receives a number of points depending on the cards left by his opponents. The game is won by the one who scores 500 points during one or more rounds.
- After the end of the round, each player is assigned a number of points corresponding to the cards that he has left. The game continues until someone scores 200 points, and he will be the loser. The winner is the player with the fewest points.
What else you need to remember when playing Uno
In the process, it is forbidden to stack cards, hide them under the table, or in any other way hide their real number. Players must always see each other's cards in order to yell "Uno!" in time.
If a player deliberately or accidentally puts the wrong card in the "Discard", inappropriately shouts out "Uno!" or otherwise attempts to deceive and confuse opponents by circumventing the rules, a penalty is due. The sly one needs to take 2 cards from the "Prikup" deck out of turn.
It happens that the game is still going on, and the cards in the "Prikup" are over. In this case, leave the top Discard card on the table, shuffle the rest well, put them face down in the Buyback and continue the round.
