'Brokeback Mountain' and 'Life of Pi' director to direct Bruce Lee movie

Taiwanese director Ang Lee will direct a biopic about Hong Kong actor and martial artist Bruce Lee. The main role was given to the director's son, 32-year-old Mason Lee, who had been preparing for filming for three years. About it writes deadline.

The script will be handled by Dan Futterman, who worked on Capote and Foxcatcher. It will be based on the work of previous authors: Jean Castelli, Alex Lowe, Mabel Cheung and Wells Tower.

Produced by Lawrence Grey, Shannon Lee, Ang Lee, Ben Everard and Brian Bell. Elizabeth Gabler and Marisa Paiva, who previously worked with the director on Life of Pi, are overseeing the project.

Ang Lee, who had already made his mark on martial arts cinema with the 2000 film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, has long wanted to direct this biopic. He intends to show how Bruce Lee became a real legend and teacher of Hollywood actors.

The release date for the film has not yet been announced.
