Thing of the day: Pixel - a modular mechanical keyboard made of LEGO bricks
Miscellaneous / / April 05, 2023
Such a keyboard can be made truly unique by decorating with colored blocks on both sides.
An interesting new project will appear on Kickstarter: a modular Pixel keyboard with a case made of designer cubes. It is compatible with LEGO bricks, but will not hurt your fingers: on the keys, the protruding parts are covered with transparent caps.
The keyboard can be decorated to your taste both in front and behind. To do this, you can use your own LEGO parts, or purchase an additional set of bricks when ordering a keyboard.
Despite the rather dense layout, this model cannot be called compact because of the rather large frames. On the right side, under the plates of the designer, there is a slot for a USB adapter so that it is not lost during transportation.
By default, the keyboard uses custom Kailh switches (linear L or tactile T to choose from), it will also be possible to pay extra when ordering to get Silver or Yellow Pro from Gateron, or Kailh Box White.
Declared compatible with Mac, Windows, IOS, Android and Linux. The keyboard can be connected to a computer, tablet or smartphone via Bluetooth 5.2, wired via USB-C, or using a USB dongle.
The Pixel Keyboard is now available for pre-order on Kickstarter at a price of $219 (≈13,300 rubles), the release is expected in January. The project has already collected the necessary amount to launch.
