How to create a group on Viber

What is important to know

Viber allows you to create group chats and communities that include text messages, stickers, file sharing, and polls. In addition to the administrator, you can add at least two and no more than 249 people to the group.

For most versions of the messenger, the creation and design of a group is carried out according to the same principle, if you do not take into account small differences in the interface of different operating systems.

How to create a group on Viber

On a smartphone

1. Launch Viber on your smartphone.
2. Click on the large button for creating a dialogue, located in the lower right part of the screen above the menu ribbon (Android), or on the pencil at the top (iOS).
3. Click on "Create Group".
4. Next, from the list, select the contacts of the users you want to add to the new group, and confirm with a checkmark.
5. After that, a window with a chat in a new group will open. You can send the first message.

On the computer

1. Launch Viber on your computer.
2. Click on the "Create" button to the right of the search bar.
3. Select "New Group".
4. Add members from your contact list.
5. If you wish, immediately specify the name of the group and upload your icon for it.
6. Click on the "Start Chat" button at the bottom of the screen.

What else to pay attention to

When you create a group, you automatically become its administrator. To set up and design a chat, you need to click on the three dots in the upper right corner of the screen or on the name of the group and go to the "Information" section. If you want to appoint someone else as an admin, then click in the “Add admin” section that opens and select a contact from the list of participants.

To change the name of a group from your smartphone, tap the word "Group" (Android) or the pencil icon and enter a new name. Click on the group icon and select the appropriate image from the device memory.

To expand the membership of the group, click "Add member" and then select them from your contact list or provide a phone number. In the settings, you can also activate the "Silent" mode for messages. In addition, it is possible to forward the link to the chat to friends.
