HBO is actively discussing a new prequel to the "Game of Thrones" - about the conquest of Westeros by Aegon I Targaryen. About this with reference to their own sources writes Variety.
Since the project is in its very early stages, there is currently no screenwriter, although sources the search is said to be ongoing as HBO seeks to get the show into production as soon as possible quicker. It is also noted that the project may have an artistic component, that is, HBO and Warner Bros. will create a feature film that will then lead to a potential TV series.
The show will tell the story of how Aegon and his sister-wives, Visenya and Rhaenys, used their army and three dragons to conquer six of the seven kingdoms of Westeros, with the exception of Dorne. At the same time, Aegon I became the first king of Westeros, the first to sit on the Iron Throne and the founder of the Targaryen dynasty. His rise took place about 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
It is worth noting that of the numerous projects in the universe of George R. R. Martin, the only one who reached the release stage was "dragon house». The first season of this show premiered in August 2022, and second season it was renewed less than a week after its launch. Other series in the world of Westeros that were in the plans were closed at the pilot stage.
