The novelty also differs from the regular version with a 108 megapixel camera and rear panel design.
After the presentation of the long-awaited flagships Redmi K60 and couples smart accessories Xiaomi showed another novelty: Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition.
Contrary to the name, the smartphone did not charge faster than usual Redmi Note 12 ProA: Its 5,000mAh battery retained 67W charging support (wired only, no wireless). The new version also looks very similar to the standard one: only the colors and design of the camera module differ. Such a change hints that the international version of the smartphone may be released under the Poco brand.
The main changes come down to the processor and cameras. While the Redmi Note 12 Pro has a Dimensity 1080 and a 50MP main camera, the Speed Edition has a Snapdragon 778G and a 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 camera (but no OIS). The main module is still complemented by an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle and a 2 MP macro.
The rest of the smartphones are identical. In particular, there is a 10-bit 6.67-inch OLED display with FullHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The fingerprint scanner is on the side, not under the screen, there is support for NFC and 5G.
Unlike the Redmi Note 12 Pro, which came with MIUI 13 based on Android 12, the Speed Edition comes with MIUI 14 based on Android 13. Three versions will be available:
- 6/128 GB - 1699 yuan (≈17,400 rubles)
- 8/256 GB - 1799 yuan (≈18,400 rubles)
- 12/256 GB - 1999 yuan (≈20,400 rubles)
Interestingly, the base model with 6 GB of RAM will be sold only in black: for the sake of a blue or green cover, you will have to take a more expensive version.
