James Gunn talks about Batman 2, the new Superman and the reboot of the DC Universe

James Gunn and Peter Safran, who are now in charge of the development of the DC Universe, told about upcoming projects. Among them was the sequel "Batmanwith Robert Pattinson. This film will be released with the subtitle "Part Two" on October 3, 2025.

"Batman" will be a trilogy, the films of which will not be part of the DC Cinematic Universe. It will be completely rebooted by the upcoming The Flash with Ezra Miller, which will be released this June.

Further, the DC Cinematic Universe will develop according to the Marvel script - with a single world for new films and series. The first wave will include 10 projects:

Movies

• Superman: Legacy is a reboot of the Superman movie with a new cast. It will launch the new DC Universe and release on July 11, 2025.
• The Authority is a comic book adaptation by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch. In the center of the plot is the story of a team of superheroes performing the most dangerous tasks.
• The Brave and the Bold is a new film about Batman and Robin based on the comics of the same name by Grant Morrison. The Dark Knight will be played by a new actor.

• Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is a movie about Kara Zor-El, Kal-El's cousin. James Gunn called the picture "much more hardcore" than the usual superhero action movies.
• Swamp Thing is a thriller with horror elements that tells about the origin of the Swamp Thing.

Series

• Creature Commandos is an animated series about a superhuman military unit during World War II. James Gunn wrote the script for all episodes and has already sent the draft to production.
• Waller - a series about Amanda Waller, already known for films about Suicide Squad.
• Lanterns is the story of a Green Lantern once played by Ryan Reynolds. Peter Safran called the series similar to True Detective.
• Paradise Lost is a series about the rise of Themyscira, Wonder Woman's home island. The show will be devoted to political intrigue and wars, which will partly make it similar to the Game of Thrones.
• Booster Gold is a comedy series about a loser from the future. He will return to the past and will pretend to be a superhero, using the primitive technologies of his civilization.
