The producer of Bohemian Rhapsody has already joined the work, but the lead actor has not yet been chosen.
By data Deadline, Lionsgate has launched a biopic about Michael Jackson. The team for the project is already being formed: John Logan (007: Spectrum, Alien: Covenant) will be the screenwriter, and Graham King, who worked on Bohemian Rhapsody, will be the producer. The film will be directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Great Equalizer and more recently "Liberationwith Will Smith).
The working title of the project is “Michael” (yes, by analogy with “Elvis»). Fukua will be able to work on it closely once The Equalizer 3 wraps up, so filming will probably start as early as this year. Rumor has it that Fuqua will bring in cinematographer Robert Richardson, who filmed Deliverance and the third The Equalizer.
It is noted that the film about Jackson has long been a dream project for Logan and King, who previously worked together on The Aviator. Scorsese. About pitching their idea to different studios reported back in 2019.
The plot will be traditional for such films: we will be shown the path of Jackson from The Jackson 5 to worldwide fame and death in 2009. According to Deadline, the film will also touch on the details of the artist's pedophilia scandal.
