Richard Branson - fairly well-known and eccentric businessman, owner of Virgin Group and one of the most interesting entrepreneurs of our time. Like many, Branson is a fan of Steve Jobs - Richard often admitted that Jobs is his idol.
Recently, in his blog, Sir Branson shared with his readers a story that happened to him in the time of a meeting with Walter Ayzeksenom - author of the only authorized biography of Steve Jobs. This story made me think of Richard and certainly will not leave you indifferent and you - therefore, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with its translation. Enjoy reading!
From the post of Richard Branson: I recently had the honor to dine with Walter Isaacson - a brilliant writer and a great biographer. His book about Albert Einstein, Gurney Kissinger and Steve Jobs gives a lot of interesting food for thought about the lives of these wonderful people.
He told a lot of jokes and stories about Steve - entrepreneurs, who I have always admired immensely. But one story I particularly remember. It is associated with her father Steve - Paul Jobs.
Paul Jobs is very responsible approach to any job, and when he gave Steve a workbench to work in his garage, he said, "Steve, now - it's yours working a place". Father since childhood instilled in his son the responsibility for work and attention to detail, even with the simplest operation in the garage.
Once, Jobs built a small fence in the backyard of their home in Mountain View. The fence has been around 50 years - due to the fact that Paul has always focused on the quality of work. Steve said: "I think my father had a great sense of design... He liked to do everything efficiently and even took care of the details of the repaired things that no one will see."
Such an attitude to work strongly influenced the career of Steve Jobs. At Apple, he was distinguished by a maniacal attention to detail. That only is the story of motherboards Macintosh computers: Jobs made sure that all parts of the motherboard carefully arranged on her and looked harmoniously, even beautiful. Although it would seem, why do it if it did not affect the quality of the computer and ordinary users to see charge a couple of times in my life. But Steve was important to absolutely everything, every detail.
You can have different attitudes to the authoritarian style of Steve's leadership, but it is impossible not to admire his perfectionism, attention to every detail, responsible attitude to work. Steve was demanding his subordinates, but first of all, to himself, and he wanted people around him to work with the same dedication and responsibility to the case.
What qualities in the person of Steve Jobs mark for yourself you? What lesson Jobs left for you? How do you remember the founder of Apple? When I first heard or saw about him? Leave your answers in the comments.
