Amazon to release 'The Dark Tower' adaptation from 'Midnight Mass' creators

Last week's edition of Deadline reportedthat the studio of Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy Intrepid Pictures, known for the series "midnight mass», «The ghosts of the house on the hill"and the film"Doctor Sleep”, ends a multi-year contract with Netflix and moves under the wing of Amazon Studios. It is now known that Flanagan aimed for the most ambitious project of his career: the film adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower.
The eight-book series combines fantasy, science fiction, western and horror elements. This is a story about the confrontation between Roland Deschain, the last of the order of shooters, and the dark forces that seek to destroy the Dark Tower - the last bastion of hope that keeps the world from falling into chaos.
In an interview with Deadline, Flanagan and Macy revealed they have secured the film rights. What's more, Flanagan, who calls the job his dream project, has already scripted the pilot and scripted the entire first season. He has big plans: he expects five seasons and two feature films.
Intrepid Pictures has previously filmed not only Doctor Sleep, but also Gerald's Game, so The Dark Tower will be her third work based on King's books. Flanagan also directed and wrote both films.
This isn't Amazon's first attempt at an eight-volume TV series: development talks went back in 2018, but in 2020 it was canceled after filming the pilot episode. We can only hope that this time the project will still reach the release.
