WhatsApp on Android will add audio chats

WhatsApp is working on an audio chat feature on Android. It is under development and is not yet available even for beta testing, writes WABetaInfo.

Based on screenshots from the beta, WhatsApp will have a new icon in the chat menu that allows users to initiate an audio conversation. There is also a red button to end the signal. And below there will be free space to display the sound wave. Apparently, the new format can be used in the background, switching between conversations.

However, this is all just speculation. The company has not yet commented on audio chats, so nothing is known about their functionality.

A new feature was found in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android. WABetaInfo believes that the final version will be available to users after the next messenger update.
