Study: Men and women choose different iPhones
Miscellaneous / / April 03, 2023
It seems that for many women, the Pro versions are too massive.
Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) Analysts shared data on the distribution of iPhone models among men and women who bought a new smartphone in 2022.
The data shows that men are more likely to choose Pro models than women. Among the iPhone 14 or 14 Plus buyers studied, 12% of women purchased, but only 8% of men. With Pro versions, the situation is reversed: they were chosen by 21% of male buyers and 16% of women.
Among men who bought a new iPhone in 2022, 41% chose the Pro or Pro Max model, compared to only 33% among women.
The difference is most noticeable in the current generation and the iPhone 11: women also bought it more actively. But with the iPhone SE and the base iPhone 12 and 13, the situation is almost identical.
Probably, women are more likely to choose the basic versions due to their lower weight: Pro models with an additional camera and a steel frame consistently turn out to be more weighty. But the factor of the presence of a mini-version is difficult to trace: CIRP does not provide data on specific models.
