7 youth hobbies that are suitable for adults too

1. Tricking
This young sport combines elements of martial arts, parkour, breakdancing and gymnastics. Discipline originated at the end of the 20th century, and gained popularity in our time thanks to videos on the Internet. On them, young people make energetic combinations of spins, jumps and kicks to surprise the audience. Famous trickers usually have a sports background, but many are self-taught who learn tricks from YouTube tutorials. Therefore, even those whose maximum in acrobatics is a somersault back on the bed have a chance. Training does not require additional equipment: all you need to start is your bare feet and soft flooring.
By opinion Tricking instructor Mark Rusmantillo, the most difficult thing for beginners to overcome is not physical, but psychological limitations. “Most people don't believe in themselves or are embarrassed to try something new for the first time. But training reduces these fears over time and helps build self-confidence and body awareness.”
2. Skateboard
Skateboards started sell in 1959, and the first freestyle and urban downhill competitions were held in the USA four years later. Since then, this hobby has gained a lot of fans. Often you can see very young guys on a skateboard, and at the Olympic competitions win even 13 year old athletes. But if you are not afraid of abrasions on your legs, then you can start at a more mature age.
It is better to start with simple options. Try to master the ollie - jump along with the board in the air. Another popular trick is the kickflip. To complete it, you need to turn the board under your feet 360 degrees. It is best to train in specialized skate parks, but if there is no such thing in your city, a park or an alley where there is a road without potholes and bumps is suitable for a start. And don't forget your protective gear. Falls (and they are inevitable!) can cause a lot of inconvenience.
3. K-pop
After a busy day at work, few people can find the strength to skateboard or trick. But if you still want to join youth hobbies, but you don’t have the strength to get up from the couch, then listen to Korean pop. The worldwide popularity of this genre contributed singer PSY, who in 2012 recorded the track Gangnam Style. But now it has become much more diverse.
K-pop is loved for incendiary melodies that instantly get stuck in the head, stylish clips and bright choreography. Before recording the first song, young performers go through intensive rehearsals. And each idol - as the members of the groups are called - has their own way of dressing. And even if you are not a fan of music, you can be inspired by various fashion pieces to create your image. And also train your memory: remembering the names of all the soloists of BTS on the go is not easy.
4. Graffiti
Colorful drawings give cities a unique style. Some iconic graffiti become the center of attraction for travelers: for example, in London there are tourist routes that introduce the work of Banksy. You can draw graffiti too. To practice, start with the sketches in the album. When you feel confident, go to the walls. Before picking up a can of paint, you need to get permission from the municipality and enlist the support of residents of nearby houses. But the efforts will be justified - your work will be noticed by tens of thousands of citizens.
Graffiti artists are no longer perceived as vandals who spoil the facades of houses. Street art museums are being opened in different countries, festivals and competitions for the best drawings are being held. For example, in Russia there is a competition-award "CARDO”, which rewards participants for their contribution to the development of street culture and sports. Prizes are awarded not only for graffiti, but also for breaking, parkour, workout, tricking, skateboarding, BMX, SCOOT, hip-hop, DJing.
5. Kickscooting
On scooters, you can not only scare slow passers-by on the sidewalk, but also engage in extreme sports. They do jumps, flips and even somersaults. The main thing is to choose a trick model that will withstand such experiments. Such a scooter has a reduced wheel size and no folding mechanisms. And the design will also differ depending on where you plan to ride: in a skate park or on the street. Park scooters are lighter because the task of the athlete is to perform tricks with maximum amplitude. And a street rider will need a model that is stronger and heavier, because he does slides and flights over steps in an urban environment.
If you want to master this sport, then you should not immediately jump on the highest ladder. Start with basic tricks like the bunny hop or the bunny jump. The task of the athlete is to tear off two wheels from the surface of the earth, pulling the steering wheel towards himself. With this, you, most likely, will cope already during the first training.
6. bmx
BMX is a sport in which athletes perform extreme stunts on a special bike. Its feature is small 20‑inch wheels, a light and durable frame and a low saddle. In the early 1970s, these bikes were ridden by children who inspired motocross superstars of the day. And now BMX is one of the Olympic disciplines.
On a bike, you can do different combinations of jumps, tricks and slides. And for starters, you have to learn how to tear off the front or rear wheel, while maintaining balance. When you feel confident in the saddle, move on to the bunny hop, a jump in which you need to tear off the surface first the front and then the rear wheel. You will need this skill to overcome obstacles.
7. DJing
A DJ doesn't just put on cool songs at parties. His goal is to select tracks that fit the time and place and put them together in such a way that the whole set is perceived as a single piece. Then the music will flow smoothly, and the audience will not have to move from foot to foot between tracks.
To DJ, you need special equipment: high-quality headphones, a DJ controller and a mixer. Playing on vinyl records is not necessary today - many people turn on music on a laptop. The development of a DJ depends on his motivation - you can perform at home parties and friends' weddings, or you can perform at nightclubs and festivals. And, of course, self-education is important: it will be possible to draw out the aunt's anniversary on the repertoire of Irina Allegrova, but if you want more, then you need to constantly look for new and rare music.
