NASA and Axiom Space unveil space suits for landing on the moon

Once sent to the satellite, they will never return to Earth.
NASA management presented new spacesuits created by Axiom Space. They will be worn by astronauts during the lunar mission "Artemis-3" (Artemis III), planned for 2025.
The prototype suit, called the Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU), was shown off at an event on Wednesday, March 15. It is done in dark gray and designed with the participation of costume designer Esther Marquis, who worked on the TV series For All Mankind. The final version for the astronauts will be white - to better reflect heat.
NASA's partnership with Axiom is critical to landing astronauts on the moon and maintaining America's leadership in space. Based on years of NASA research and experience, the next-generation Axiom suits will not only enable the first woman to set foot on to the moon, but will open up opportunities for more people to explore and conduct scientific research on the moon than ever before before.

NASA astronauts have used the same basic spacesuit design since the space shuttle days, and the technology has remained largely unchanged for 40 years. While the old suit design has proven itself during this time, it severely limits the astronaut's range of motion.
The new version was created with an emphasis on mobility and mobility, so that the astronauts would be comfortable walking, bending over and crouching. All this is especially important when working in low gravity, like on the moon.
The support structure of the suit itself has become much more hinged, especially in the lower part, which will make it easier to lift things from the ground in the lunar environment.
The helmet also received a light insert above the dome, providing better visibility, and a high-definition video camera on the side. It will allow you to broadcast first-person video directly to Earth.
The boots have been upgraded too. They received more reliable insulation so that you can work comfortably in cold conditions all the time. shaded regions of the moon.
It is noteworthy that these spacesuits never will not return to Earth - they will be left on board the Starship, which will remain in lunar orbit. On it, they will be delivered to the moon, while the team itself will fly on the Orion spacecraft. In orbit, the astronauts will transfer to the Starship, which will land on the satellite. Only then will people put on these spacesuits to set foot on the surface of the moon again.
