Telegram on macOS has learned to save laptop battery

Telegram messenger released Updated the macOS app with a new feature called Power Saving Mode. It allows you to disable resource-intensive processes to save battery power on MacBooks.

The power saving feature appeared in version 9.4.1 for macOS. You can enable it in the settings. When activated, Telegram disables video and GIF autoplay, some interface animations, and other power-hungry features. As a result, the application consumes less hardware resources and energy.

The power saving mode can be customized. For example, disable only video autoplay. You can even ask the system to activate the mode only at a specific battery level.

While the feature is aimed at MacBooks, Apple desktop users can also take advantage of the new power saving mode to make Telegram faster. This is true for older models with weak iron.

The update also contains bug fixes and performance improvements.

It is worth noting that two different Telegram applications are available for Apple users: the native version for macOS in question and Telegram Desktop is a universal app available on macOS, Windows and linux. Do not confuse.
