Microsoft plans to launch a play store for iOS and Android as early as 2024

It will compete with the App Store and Google Play with a selection of Xbox games.
Speaking to the Financial Times, Xbox chief Phil Spencer toldthat Microsoft is preparing to launch game stores for iOS and Android. It seems that this is the company's reaction to the requirement of the European Parliament, according to which Apple and Google must open their platforms to alternative app stores by March 2024.
If regulators allow Microsoft to complete its purchase of Activision Blizzard, new stores could launch as early as next year, Spencer said. They will allow anyone to "play Xbox video games and third-party projects on any screen."
So far, Microsoft continues to fight for the possibility of buying Activision Blizzard, which owns Call of Duty. Because of this, Sony strongly opposes this deal, believing that PlayStation users may stop receiving games in the series because of this.
But Phil Spencer believes the deal will help Microsoft compete in the mobile gaming market and called smartphones the most important gaming device today. At the same time, Google and Apple remain monopolists on the platforms they have developed. The new draft of the European Parliament gives Microsoft a good opportunity to become a major player in this market.
Popular games like God of Destruction: Immortal and Candy Crush Saga, as well as new mobile projects that are still in development, will help to lure Microsoft to their site. Whether this strategy will work or not, we can find out as early as 2024.
