Mozilla extends support for Firefox on Windows 7 and Windows 8
Miscellaneous / / April 02, 2023
These systems are too popular with browser users.
After several months of deliberation, Mozilla still extended Firefox support on Windows 7 and 8. Browser users will receive updates until the third quarter of 2024. That is, for about a year.
However, the terms can change both up and down. The company has not made a final decision yet.
We will not be ending support for Windows 7/Windows 8 until Firefox 115 ESR is released. I can't say exactly when we will end support.

Previously, browser support on legacy operating systems was expected to end in the first half of this year. The company recommended that users update Windows by this time.
As explained by other developers of the company, the decision to extend support is due to the popularity of Firefox among users of these systems. As of October 2022, Windows 7 accounts for 15.114% of active browser users, while Windows 8.1 accounts for 2.848%.
