And he named the top 10 most cheerful songs - they were collected in the Yandex Music playlist.
Music psychologist and Ph.D. Michael Bonshor of the University of Sheffield found that the most upbeat songs have a tempo of 137 beats per minute, a short intro and the usual verse-chorus-verse-chorus structure, but with unpredictable elements such as change keys, writes Daily Mail.
In addition, funny tracks usually make you want to dance, so they often sound in the style of “two stomps, three slams”. And songs are perceived as more joyful if they are written in a major key, have the so-called seventh chord (seventh chord), the psychologist notes in his study, which was commissioned by the company Millerlight.
We like the seventh chords because they make the song more interesting. Regular chords use three notes, while sevenths add an extra note that creates a sense of musical tension and relief at the same time.

As far as musical instruments are concerned,
happiness listeners need brass and electric guitars. Finally, the icing on the cake is the repetitive rhythm or guitar riff found in blues and jazz. The author of the study also named the top 10 tracks that fit his "happy song" formula. In first place is "Good Vibrations" by The Beach Boys. Second and third are "I Got You (I Feel Good)" by James Brown and "House of Fun" by Madness, respectively.
We collected the entire top 10 in the Yandex Music playlist (available track versions).
