Content creators will be able to share messages and images, as well as conduct polls for their audience.
Mark Zuckerberg officially unveiled "Channels" via private messages on Instagram*. These are broadcast chats that allow you to share one-to-many public messages. These have been in Telegram for a long time.
Channels allow you to interact directly with your subscribers. They support text, images, polls, reactions, and more. Zuckerberg announced this feature by launching his own broadcast channel where he plans to share Meta* updates in the future.
Instagram is starting to test Channels with Featured Creators in the US and plans to expand this feature in the coming months. The developers note that only authors can post messages in broadcast channels, and subscribers can only respond to content and participate in polls.
More features are planned to be added to the channels in the coming months, such as the ability to invite another contributor to discuss upcoming collaborations and gather questions from the audience.
In the future, the company plans to add channels to Facebook* and Messenger*.
