Waves found on Mars

This is true proof that there was still water on the planet.
Analysis of photographs from the Curiosity rover, which were taken back in mid-December, gave scientists the most reliable confirmation at the moment that there was once water on Mars.
It is noteworthy that earlier scientists looked at footage from thousands of meters of the surface of Mars, where once there were lakes, but did not find evidence in the texture of the rock. Now they have made an important discovery in what they thought was dry land.
The new photographs show the rock with undulating patterns, the kind that occur when waves break away from the beach, leaving footprints in the temporarily exposed sand. Scientists believe that these furrows were formed billions of years ago due to waves on the surface of a shallow lake. The movement from above stirred up the sediment at the bottom, which created such a comb texture.
Also, the texture of the stones allows us to understand that it was influenced by regular weather cycles and climatic features like dust storms. Not far from the striated textures, layered rock with uniform thickness and spacing between layers is visible. This type of rhythmic pattern in the layers of rock on Earth is formed due to regular atmospheric phenomena.
Perhaps the rhythmic patterns in the Martian rock arose for the same reasons as on our planet, which hints at changes in the climate of the Red Planet in antiquity. It also confirms that Mars had a surprisingly complex climate - just like Earth. Further study will allow us to learn more about the past of the planet.
